Stewarton Bowling Club hosted the Ayrshire v Glasgow match of The Eglinton Jug on Friday 3 July 2026, welcoming players and visitors for a day of competitive bowling and club hospitality.
The day began with players enjoying a full Scottish breakfast before taking to the green for what proved to be a closely contested encounter. With 31 ends scheduled to be played, the early stages saw very little separating the two sides.
As the match progressed, Glasgow gradually established an advantage and ultimately secured victory with an overall score of 178 shots to 153.
Among the visiting teams, Kingswood finished as the highest-winning rink. For Stewarton, the top-performing rink consisted of John Kilpatrick, Rab Rosbotham, Jimmy Gibson and Hugh Sharp. Their success was determined on ends won, finishing ahead of the rink skipped by Vice President Kevin, alongside Fred Hill, Peter Millar and Clive Jelly.
While the result went in Glasgow’s favour, the occasion was widely regarded as a successful and enjoyable day of bowling for all involved.
The club extends its sincere thanks to everyone who helped organise and support the event. Appreciation is due to the team who provided breakfast for the players before the match, helping ensure the day got off to an excellent start.
