Stewarton Bowling Club hosted an Ayrshire Cup competition on Saturday 20 June 2026 featuring Hurlford, Coylton, New Cumnock and Springside on what was widely regarded as the warmest day of the bowling season so far.

The home side faced strong opposition throughout the event and ultimately finished behind the visiting clubs, with Stewarton recording an overall shot score of 68 compared to the visitors’ combined total of 93.

Stewarton’s highest-performing rink on the day was made up of John Kilpatrick, Wullie Ross, Kevin McMullen and Hugh Sharp, who produced the club’s best result in challenging conditions.

Among the visiting clubs, Coylton and Springside finished level as the highest-placed teams on shots. The outcome was decided on a countback, with Coylton having won more ends to secure overall honours.

In a generous gesture, the sweep prize was donated to our bar staff and the club’s team of volunteers working in the kitchen in recognition of their efforts throughout the day.

While the result did not go Stewarton’s way, the Ayrshire Cup provided a competitive and enjoyable day of bowling, with players and visitors alike enjoying the hospitality and atmosphere on offer at the club.
