Stewarton Bowling Club travelled to Stamperland on Saturday 22 August for the annual Drew Higgins Memorial Cup match, with the home side emerging victorious by 69 shots to 52.
While the result went in Stamperland’s favour, the occasion was widely regarded as a successful and enjoyable day for everyone involved. Players were treated to excellent weather throughout the match, helping create ideal conditions for an afternoon of competitive bowling.
The event was further enhanced by the warm hospitality shown by Stamperland, along with a well-received buffet and the opportunity for members from both clubs to enjoy good company.
Stewarton’s highest-winning rink was skipped by Jim Robertson, alongside Wullie Ross, Davy Stevenson and Hugh Sharp, whose performance provided one of the club’s highlights on the green.
Our club also extends its thanks to Kevin McMullen, Hugh Sharp and President Davy Hutchison, who provided transport.
A presentation was made following the match, with Stamperland President Steven Dickson receiving the Drew Higgins Memorial Cup from Past President Wullie Higgins.
Stewarton Bowling Club congratulates Stamperland on their victory and looks forward to welcoming the club to Stewarton for next year’s fixture.
